How Strategic Press Helped Me Land High-End Clients

(and it can do the same for you!)

When I left my coveted role at Vogue to pursue interior design, I found myself in a new city with no network, no referrals, and no clear way to reach the kind of clients I wanted to work with.

So I leaned into what I knew best: media. I began pitching my projects, and when my very first feature appeared in Inside Out, everything changed. That one article built trust, gave me credibility, and set me on a path to attract aligned, high-value clients.

Since then, every single one of my projects has been published- many of them multiple times- in Australia’s most respected design magazines and across international titles. Over the past year alone, my work has been featured in Vogue Living, Belle Magazine, House & Garden, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor UK and many more.

Getting published doesn’t have to feel like a mystery. I’ve developed a proven framework that transforms pitching from a daunting gamble into a repeatable, strategic process, one that you can use to build visibility, establish authority, and attract the kind of clients you’ve been dreaming of. And now, I’m sharing that system with you.

MEET YOUR COACH

I'm Jillian Dinkel

Before founding my interior design studio, I spent a decade in the fast-paced world of fashion publishing in New York and Sydney — working behind the scenes at American GQ, Glamour, and later as Bookings Director at Vogue Australia. My days were spent orchestrating shoots with some of the world’s most celebrated names — Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, and many more — juggling tight deadlines, complex logistics, and exacting creative standards.

When I moved into interiors, I brought that same editorial eye and insider media know-how with me. With no network or referrals to lean on, I built my studio from the ground up by pitching my projects to the press. My very first feature in Inside Out magazine was a turning point — and since then, every one of my projects has been published, many across Australia’s leading design titles and internationally in outlets such as Vogue Living, Belle, House & Garden, and Architectural Digest.

Along the way, I began sharing my process with other designers one-on-one, and the results spoke for themselves: their projects started getting picked up, too.

Now, I’ve distilled everything I know into this course. It’s the exact system I use to consistently land top-tier press — designed to take the guesswork (and fear) out of pitching, and replace it with a clear, repeatable framework that will help you build credibility, attract clients you love, and grow a studio that feels in demand.

Get Media Ready

The first step to successful publishing is clarity. Together, we’ll define your media goals, identify the right publications for your work, and map out the benchmarks that matter most. You’ll also create your must-have shoot day checklist so you know exactly what editors expect when considering a feature. This module sets the stage for everything to follow, giving you confidence that you’re heading in the right direction.

Plan Your Photoshoot

You only get one chance to capture your project- and it’s one of the biggest investments you’ll make in your business. A well-planned shoot not only showcases your work at its very best, it also determines whether your project has the power to be featured by top publications. In this module, I’ll walk you through how to build the right team, prepare your spaces to shine on camera, and manage the day seamlessly so nothing is left to chance.

Design Your Media Plan

Success isn’t random, it’s planned. Here, you’ll build a personalised media roadmap that keeps you organised, strategic, and intentional in your outreach. With a printable worksheet to guide you, you’ll create a plan that simplifies the process while ensuring your efforts are focused on the publications that matter most to your growth.

Write The Perfect Pitch

This is where everything comes together. You’ll learn how to craft compelling pitches that editors want to open, what to include (and what to avoid), and how to follow up with professionalism and confidence. I’ll share exactly how to find the right editor contacts, even as staff change or new editors step in, so you’ll never feel stuck again.
